Mentoring for Life (M4L)
A mentoring scheme for girls

Who we are
Families For Life (F4L) offers counselling to families struggling through transitions or crisis. During our vast work within communities, schools and colleges, we met and spoke with many young people about their own experiences and unique needs. From this, we recognised that, at times, girls in particular needed greater access to opportunities, but also the confidence to seize these opportunities and the skills needed to thrive in them.
As a consequence, in 2020 we established a one-to-one mentoring scheme for girls and we called it Mentoring For Life (M4L).
Research shows that conversations and personal relationships can have a big impact on shaping identity, self-esteem, future expectations and aspirations, particularly during adolescence, which is a pivotal time for girls.
Therefore, it is crucial to inspire and empower girls and young women to maximize their potential and celebrate their achievements.
Mission statement
We empower all girls to fulfil their potential by supporting their individual learning and personal development and to become confident, inspiring individuals in their own right.
